“Nice cafe in Jew town with good food”
After a morning walking round Jew town this looked like a good place for lunch and we were right. Good food, reasonably priced and good service. If you're in Jew town and want somewhere for lunch or a drink, I'd recommend Cafe Crafters.

“Have a break - have a coffee.”
A nice place to take a break from a very hectic shopping spree (for artifacts and handicrafts from nearly every part of India). Most enjoyable.

“A great place to watch the world go by”
A shopkeeper recommended Cafe Crafters to us and it was a good choice. The cafe is upstairs above an antique shop in an historic building in the centre of Jewtown and has a small balcony where we sat and watched the world go by. The building itself is fascinating with carved screens and barred window channeling air through the room.
The menu is small and rather restricted - more snacks than proper meals. We paid 150 rupees each (about £2 a head) for 'fish and chips - two tiny fillets and a small pile of fries. It was small but enough in the heat of the day. We drank fresh lime sodas and cold coffees with ice-cream.
Toilets are clean and western.

“Unexpectedly, surprisingly good”
Was wandering around Jew Town's antique shops with a friend one sunny monsoon-season day. We realized we were hungry and hadn't eaten lunch. Cafe Crafters seemed to be the only place open. We decided to try it. I'm glad we did! We both had traditional South Indian dishes...prawns and fish curry with appam. Delicious! I returned the following Sunday (for more antiques, and more food...I've yet to decide about the antique Ganesha, but I'll be back for more appam!) I enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the street, and loved the woodcarving on the ceiling tiles. I even took photos. I suspect this place is very busy during the high season. It's small, and there aren't many tables. I'm glad I was able to enjoy a couple of leisurely meals here in June.

“lingering taste”
Had heard of Cafe Crafters and dropped in for lunch while visiting Jew Town in Mattancherry. Very nice ambiance to go with their mainstay business - antiques! Ordered Kerala fish curry meals - the food was typical Kerala preparation - special mention has to be made about the Mathi (sardine) peera pattichathu and the meen pattichathu.
The desert - home made chocolate cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was sinfully delicious. The taste lingers. the service was very good and the place is very cozy.
