The Chinese stoneware Glazed Martaban jar is commonly known by the name in which they were thought to have originated from. Martaban is presently called Mottama, a small town in the Thaton district of Myanmar. During earlier times it was an important transit port used as a stopover. Many of these Martaban jars are traditionally large and usually of reddish or brown color. These jars were made to carry different kinds of liquids or spices that were destined for the European market and to many other parts of Asia. This Beautiful large martaban jar has a nice 4 hooks and dotted decoration on neck and lined pattern on the body.
